Crocodile feeding on zebra 1

Crocodiles feeding on Zebra at Mara river Kenya

Two crocodiles emerge with a dead zebra displaying cooperative feeding behavior. The smaller one has a serious injury from a hippo or another crocodile which removed totally its nose. They submerge again.

The big one emerges with the zebra’s intestines…

…and shakes the colon clean before eating it.

The one without the nose surfaces with the body of the zebra and looks around and...

…pulls out the remaining intestines and eats them.

The big one spins to open the zebra’s chest…

 …and swallows a mouthful.

Other crocodiles are about under water. One emerges with the heart and lungs of the zebra.

The big one seems to look on with approval as the other crocodile swallows the heart and lungs.

The one without a nose seems to cry out in triumph as it continues feeding.

The next morning the one without the nose is sleeping soundly. It is so full of zebra that its belly resembles a rugby ball.
